In America, only 1 in 10 adults meet the federal fruit or vegetable recommendations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Kathy Millington, nutritional health coach at Natural Grocers in Lincoln, says Natural Grocers seeks to help people improve their diets by teaching healthy eating habits that can help prevent illnesses such as COVID-19.

"In 2021, Natural Grocers has continued to provide our customers and our crew with the most up-to-date nutrition information on how to stay healthy," Millington says. "We added several new online nutrition classes, including my favorite, 'Super Simple Ways to Support Immunity.'"

Along with teaching nutrition classes, Millington says Natural Grocers has created crew "Wellness Corners" in every store. The Wellness Corners provides staff with free immune-supportive and stress-supportive supplements. Natural Grocers also offers customers information on strategies to maintain health and wellness.

"We also have free customer literature files on many different health topics, including how to use nutrition and supplements to support immune health," Millington says. "Just ask a crew member and we can get you a free article on a health topic you're interested in."

In addition to the various health resources Natural Grocers provides, Millington says the store is committed to supporting the local food community through charitable giving.

"Natural Grocers remains dedicated to supporting our local communities through donating 5 cents to the local food bank every time a customer brings their reusable shopping bags," she says. "We also support organizations such as Beyond Pesticides to help reduce the use of harmful chemicals in our environment."

During a worldwide health crisis, Millington says Natural Grocers has continued to provide nutritional information to help people stay healthy.

"At Natural Grocers, you can find everything you need to live a healthy lifestyle, from immune-supportive supplements to organic produce, to earth-friendly cleaning products," she says.
